Porn Star Speaks at SoCal Church

Porn Star Speaks at SoCal Church

On Sunday, June 10, adult film star Ron Jeremy returns to the Rock Church in San Diego, California for an interview with Pastor Miles McPherson on how Jesus loves porn stars. Jeremy and XXXchurch pastor Craig Gross will be featured as part of the Rock Church's "EXPOSED" message series challenging attendees to copy Jesus' model of unconditional love of the most broken and flawed—the famous and the infamous.

In 2010, Jeremy and XXXchurch pastor Craig Gross squared off at the Rock Church in a controversial debate on whether the pornography industry is beneficial or detrimental to our society and culture.

In addition to starring in over 2,000 films, Ron Jeremy is also ranked No. 1 in Adult Video News' "50 Top Porn Stars of All Time" list. Gross' website offers "spiritual solutions" to pornography. The duo has had over 60 debates since 2006, but the Rock was the first church to ever host the event.

About the Rock
The Rock is San Diego’s largest church and the 19th largest church in the nation according to Outreach Magazine's 2009 "100 Largest and Fastest-Growing Churches in America" survey. It was started in 2000 by Pastor Miles McPherson, a former NFL player. Over 12,500 people attend the Rock's five Sunday services.

Eastlake Community Church in Bothell is tackling the spiritual implications of pornography this weekend, starting with Porn and Pastries Friday night,Porn in the Morn Saturday morning, and the big event, the XXX Debatebetween pastor Craig Gross and porn star Ron Jeremy Saturday night. Gross and Jeremy will also be attending the regular Sunday services.
NPR's All Things Considered recently reported on how churches are dealing with the impact of pornography.
"The reality is most churches are scared to talk about this, I believe, because pastors themselves are struggling with this," Gross says.

According to a survey by Pastor Rick Warren's website, Pastors.com, 54 percent of pastors have looked at pornography in the past year. Gross says evangelicals have plenty to say about sexual morality — as well as infidelity, sex before marriage and homosexuality — but when it comes to pornography, they need to do more than lob arguments.
