OneNewsNow and Pro-life Wisconsin broke the news earlier this month about a youngster who was physically prevented from leaving an abortion clinic. The girl was initially led inside by a woman, presumably her mother, and when the child exited Affiliated Medical Services to ask pro-lifers for help, the woman and abortion clinic guards forced her back inside.
But when Dan Miller, head of Milwaukee 40 Days for Life, called police to report the incident, the dispatcher lectured him instead of helping the girl:
Miller: "The child clearly indicated to us that she did not want to be in…" (interrupted)
Dispatcher 54: "Okay, this is an 11-year-old child. Her mother took her for medical attention."
Miller: "This is an abortion clinic."
Dispatcher 54: "You know what, let me tell you something. The mother took her child there, okay? If for whatever reason, maybe to talk to someone about birth control because they found out, unfortunately, she's sexually active, maybe to have her tested -- I don't know. But it is the mother's decision to take her to talk to someone. Now, no -- they cannot perform an abortion, and the abortion clinic knows they cannot perform an abortion if that child says 'no.'"
The dispatcher continued to argue with the pro-lifer. But as talk-show host Mark Belling suggested on the air after playing the audio, it was not the dispatcher's role to lecture a caller and ignore the possible sexual abuse or forced abortion. Even so, the Milwaukee Police Department is backing the dispatcher.
